Ryland Grace (Ryan Gosling), professeur de sciences, se réveille seul à bord d’un vaisseau spatial, à des années-lumière de la Terre, sans aucun souvenir de son identité ni des raisons de sa présence à bord. Peu à peu, sa mémoire lui revient, et il comprend l’enjeu de sa mission : résoudre l’énigme de la mystérieuse substance qui cause l’extinction du Soleil.
Pour tenter de sauver l’humanité, il va devoir faire appel à ses connaissances scientifiques et à des idées peu conventionnelles… Mais une amitié inattendue pourrait bien l’aider à ne pas affronter cette mission tout seul.
Ryland Grace (Ryan Gosling), a science teacher, wakes up alone aboard a spaceship, light-years away from Earth, with no memory of his identity or the reasons for being on board. Gradually, his memory returns, and he understands the stakes of his mission: to solve the mystery of the mysterious substance that is causing the Sun's extinction. To try to save humanity, he will have to rely on his scientific knowledge and unconventional ideas… But an unexpected friendship could help him not face this mission alone.
